Wow, been a while...

Well once again it has been a while since I have gotten into Maseru and been able to "do the internet." It seems that I have come to a third world country to teach computers... I thought I was going to have some sort of agriculture position here, but most of what they had involved things like marketing potatoes; so I instead took a teaching assignment. I will be teaching basic computer classes at an all girls High School. Though we are under the crazy British Caimbridge system of education so it is Form A's through Form E's. I will be teaching 200 students and generallly having a lot of girls play stare at the white person. All in all it has been fun so far. I went for my site visit and we swear in soon and at this time next week I will ofically be a volunteer!
I have an apartment on the school grounds. I have running water, a hot shower, electricity and an oven. I'm pretty much living large here. Especially with the oven. Most other people in our training group say they are going to come visit me and cook things in the oven, as trying to bake everything with some type of homemade Dutch oven tends to get old fast.
All in all I am doing well. No sickness yet, knock on wood. Though lots of people in our group have gone down at one time or another with food poisoning and what not.
Eventually I will have a new address here, one that will deliver mail directly to my site, but for now if you want to keep sending me things just go with the other one as it will still work.
Well when I find more out I'll be sure to give you the belated update. If anyone gets tired, in a few months, of Ohio winters then you can come visit me and we will enjoy the heat and the backwards flushing toilets. Peace yos.

Hello,
My daughter is there. Her name is Mariah Mills. She is in Lihaseng, Thaba-Bosiu. Mariah has been there now almost 3 years. I was there visiting her in Feb and March 2003 for 5 weeks. Her village family know her as Retabile. For her 1st 2 years she was in ECD. Now she is in community economics. Mariah has a few side projects too. She stays busy. I guess too busy to write her Mom.
I admire what you are doing. All of you PCV are brave and caring people.
I just really miss my daughter and wish I knew more about how her life is for her now.
If you know of her, would you please, let her know of my email.
Thank You
Kate
